EPL Highest Average Player Value at €20M – Almost Double the Next Highest

The English Premier League (EPL) is arguably the world’s most famous football league making its football clubs some of the richest in the world. It is also considered by many as the most competitive league in the world. These two factors give the EPL both the necessity and capability to buy the most expensive players in the world.

As of April 2021, the average market value of a player in England’s first division is €20.1M which is almost double the next highest. Germany’s Bundesliga had an average player market value of €11.6M while Spain’s La Liga had the third-highest with an average player value of €11.0M.

Notably, the Championship had the 8th highest average player value in the world at €2.4M. This gives England’s Second Division a higher average player value than the Belgian First Division and Brazil’s Serie A.

Kylian Mbappe is Most Valuable Player in the World – €189M

As of April 2021, Kylian Mbappe is ranked as the world’s most valuable football player at 189M. Erling Haaland is the second most valuable player on the list and also the youngest with a valuation of 131M at just the age of 20. Harry Kane rounds out the top three with a valuation of 127M.

Notably, out of the top 10 most valuable players, five are Englishmen. The five other English players are Marcus Rashford(€131M), Raheem Sterling (€119M), Jadon Sancho ( 110M) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (€110M).

“The Premier League’s status as the world’s most valuable football league is further evidenced in these latest rankings. The immediate future also looks bright for The Three Lions, with 5 out of 10 of the world’s most valuable players all regularly capped Englishmen.”
